Re: 2005 virgin
Thu, February 3, 2005 - 12:42 AMI hope your going with those who have been before.
My first year, I didnt know many and the ones I did know, didnt do a whole lot to help me. I was mostly on my own.
While me and my sister were there, we made a list "while we were there" of things we wanted but didnt have, (ex. eyedrops) things we had that we should never forget to make sure we always bring (hat), and things that we brought but had no use for in the end (untested crappy bike shade structure).
Great list. I'll pass it on if i can find it. Probably mixed up with dusty bm stuff in some dusted rubbermaid somewhere. -

Re: 2005 virgin
Thu, February 3, 2005 - 1:39 AMadvice for queer girls,
if you're coming from a queer bubble land aka SF, northhampton, parts of NYC be prepared for naked penii, don't worry they wouldn't attack you and most of the boys are harmless and some are sweet fags and queers too. relax and just get use to bein out of the bloody bubble.
if you use to more straight society then
if it seems like everyone is queer at BM, well they do seem to give a good try for at least the week but they might also just be on something or just down right friendly so don't assume everyone is coming on to you. relax and don't make any assumptions and you'll be fine.
burners are really open accepting people and for the vast majority have respect and honour everyone.

Re: 2005 virgin
Thu, February 3, 2005 - 10:32 AMgreat!
I'm coming from the SF bubble, and coming w/queers (men) who are regulars.
have heard the straight men can be obnoxious, as for many it is their first taste of liberation, sexual or otherwise.
but I'm not too worried about that-
my concerns are more practical- being prepared for the sun and sand, having enough water and shade and a somewhat quiet space to sleep during the day...
would love to have a look at your lists!

Re: 2005 virgin
Fri, February 4, 2005 - 11:09 AMread everything on the burningman website, especially the parts for new people. look on the eplaya, esp. the old bbs's for packing lists, or links to packing lists. i can't think of any offhand to give you but you'll find more than you can ever use there.
the burningwoman tribe is also an excellent resource for various information pertaining to packing lists and other stuff that might be of concern to a female. read all the posts from before last years burn too.
good luck! -

would love to see your lists, cory and ty!!
As for the naked penii -- not worried about those bits :-]
But would love to hear about dyke/bi friendly camps folks have had fun at in the past, and especially any gay-boy camps that are lady friendly....
